Funnel Cakes

Serve these for breakfast or as a decadent dessert.

Funnel Cakes


  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 ½ Cups Milk
  • ¼ Cup Applesauce
  • 1 Tsp Baking Soda
  • ½ Tsp Cream of Tartar
  • ¼ Tsp Salt
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Vanilla
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Fruit


  1. Using a fork, mix dry ingredients first, and then mix in wet ingredients. Stir until a somewhat smooth consistency is achieved. Heat ½ inch of oil in a pan to 350*. Be sure the oil is hot before adding the mixture. 

  2. Pour some mixture in the pan through a funnel, moving the funnel all around the pan and back and forth until most of the gaps are filled. When the edges appear golden brown turn the cake over. 

  3. Once both sides are cooked remove the cake to a pie rack (paper towel underneath to let the excess oil drip off before putting on a plate. 

  4. Top with powdered sugar and/or your favorite fruit topping.
